APUDI INSTITUTE OF PEACE STUDIES AND SOCIAL REHABILITATION (APIS) AFFILIATES WITH THE AFRICAN PEACE INSTITUTE FOR SOCIAL RESEARCH, MEETS WITH DEPUTY COUNTY DIRECTOR

The APUDI Institute of Peace Studies and Social Rehabilitation (APIS) through its Director, Prof Danladi Abok Atu alongside other staff of the Institute, met with the Deputy County Director of the African Peace Institute for Social Research, Kerry Lee Charlie, and her team, at the Institutes office Bassan Plaza No 759 Independence Avenue Central Business District Abuja.

The African Peace Institute for Social Research, being the umbrella body for Peace Studies in Africa, visited the APUDI Institute of Peace Studies and Social Rehabilitation (APIS) for a familiarization visit, to work out modalities for collaboration between the two bodies and to inspect the APUDI facility, and also the level of Research and learning carried out by APUDI.

After the meeting, APUDI entered an Affiliation agreement with The African Peace Institute for Social Research which will offer Exchange programs, Research on Peace, with APUDI being a Hub for the African Peace Institute for Social Research in Nigeria, Domesticating the Institute in the country.

The Director of APIS, who Chaired the meeting welcomed members and introduced the Team from APUDI Institute for Peace Studies and Social Rehabilitation (APIS). Thereafter, the Officials from African Peace Institute for Social Research introduced themselves. The Director appreciated the Team from Africa Peace Institute for honoring the invitation and hope that the two Institutions would have a fruitful collaboration.

He stated that APIS is in collaboration and affiliation with the University of Abuja to run postgraduate programs in the following disciplines:

A. Master Programmes

(i) Anti-Corruption Studies.

(ii) Criminology and Security Studies.

(iii) Leadership and Discipline Studies.

(iv) NGO and Management Studies.

(v) Peace and Security Studies.

(vi) Social Rehabilitation Studies.

(vii) Society and Development Studies

(viii) Statistics

B. PGDs

(i) Anti-Corruption Studies.

(ii) Criminology and Security Studies.

(iii) Leadership and Discipline Studies.

(iv) NGO and Management Studies.

(v) Peace and Security Studies.

(vi) Social Rehabilitation Studies.

(vii) Society and Development Studies.

(viii) Statistics.

The Director informed the Delegation of the Affiliation partnership APIS had entered with Nasarawa State University, Keffi on Post Graduate Programs in the Areas of Peace Education and Security Studies.

Responding, the Deputy County Director of the African Peace Insitute said the contents of these programs have to be upgraded to meet international standards so that the graduates would be accepted the world over.

She also stated that arrangements should include joint Short Term programs such as Workshops, Conferences, etc.
She gave a basic background and rationale for establishing the Institute with the backing of the Africa Union. It is basically to collaborate with similar Institutions such as APUDI in promoting peace and security in Africa and the World through Research and Fellowships, Training, peer reviews and Conferences, Peace Work, Exchange programs, and fieldwork
In the light of the foregoing,

Both parties then identified areas of collaboration that would be worked out by APUDI to fulfill the requirement for admittance as a Member of the Institute.
